"You Are Answered Prayer"
After serving our friends without homes on a challenging winter weather day I posted a shout-out on Facebook to all the Diakonos Community members who came with us for their dedication. Cheryl, a woman who has been sojourning with us for about a year, posted the following comment:
"Leon, I'm so very thankful for you & Tina. You two are answered prayer for me. and it's exciting to be part of Diakonos and Food 4 Souls. I have been blessed to be able to get to know such amazing people that have a sincere love for God and others."
Reading a comment like this is encouraging and humbling at the same time. We know God has placed us here for people like Cheryl who find a community like Diakonos to be a place they can gather with others to explore what it means to be a follower of Jesus and grow deeper in the life Christ has for them.
Pray for God's continued work in Cheryl's life. Pray also for wisdom for Tina as she meets one-on-one with Cheryl weekly for a time of deepening discipleship.
In addition to Cheryl, pray for the following other regular members of our community:
- Pray for strength for a friend who is coming to grips with a controlling influence in his life. It's taken a while to get to the place where he is openly asking for help from our missional community, so I am encouraged that authentic transformation is happening.
- Pray for a friend who has recently connected with our missional community. He is in the last year of his military career and seeking out God's will for the next steps of his life. He believes God has brought him to Diakonos for a reason. Pray for wisdom for us as we help him and his family discern through this season of life.

In early April four friends from Diakonos joined with two others to help some our friends living in one of the tent cities we serve clean up the area around their camp. This work was important to the friends that live there because their camp is being considered for relocation by the city. Anything we do to help them keep the area clean will help them in their relationship with the city.
