Question Evoking Lives
Colossians 4:5, 6 "Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.
Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone."
At a recent gathering with Christian Associates staff and other leaders of missional ministries, Michael Frost challenged everyone to create the type of faith communities that evoke questions from the neighborhood because of the way we live. He went on to say, "Why are you not having an impact on your neighborhood? Because no one is questioning how you live..." As I listened to that challenge, I could not help but think of the fruit we are already seeing in our Diakonos Community as we seek to live lives committed to serving people on the margins of society.
In the past month we have had many people ask us about the work we do alongside Food 4 Souls (a partner ministry) serving friends without homes in our city. As they hear about the vision for Diakonos, they express a desire to be a part of this type of faith community. One of our regular members invited a friend to join us on our last two visits to the tent cities. Her friend is now jumping in with both feet and inviting others to join us. Two other families with no current church connection are expressing interest in connecting with us as well.
Pray that as these new friends connect with us in relationship, we will be able to connect them with a deeper life-giving relationship that comes through Jesus Christ.
 At the January gathering of Christian Associates staff in North America CA President, Dudley Callison, shares with us about how he is seeking to engage his neighbors in relationships that give him the opportunity to share the life of Christ with them. It's always invigorating to gather with these friends. Pray for these missional leaders as they seek to live lives that evoke questions about Christ in their communities.
