Our Diakonos Community is becoming more established as a missional community coming together to serve those on the margins of society and grow in Christ through our service and relationships. We have a growing core of people joining with us for our monthly service days and our bi-weekly house church gatherings. As we they do, they are finding that God is doing as much in their own lives as in the lives of the people we serve.
One new member is a woman who originally connected with us while volunteering at The SPARC Center. She originally was looking for volunteer opportunities for her son to get involved in, but began to see how serving the needs of others was having a positive effect in her own life. She was instrumental in helping us develop a new service partnership with an organization that brings food and other necessities to people living in tent cities along the White River in downtown Indianapolis. She's also joined our bi-weekly community gatherings, where the Holy Spirit is doing deep healing in her life. Pray that God will continue draw her and other new members to Himself as we enter into living a life of service together.
Prayer Request: Pray for our friends who own the coffee shop our house church occasionally meets at. Their 24-year-old son was hit and killed by a car while walking along a road this weekend. Pray for God's comfort for them and everyone else involved. Pray also that God will give wisdom to our community and other believers He has placed in their lives to know the best way to wrap the arms of Christ around them.
