Embed, Initiate...Now What?

The practice of building a missional community involves several steps. In Christian Associates these are broken into six steps that are summed up in three phases of missional practice: infusing missional DNA, deepening discipleship, and provoking multiplication.
This first phase involves embedding in a community and initiating missional activity and relationship among the people you are reaching. Activities such as helping the local school district launch a food pantry for those in need, working part-time to help with job training programs for at-risk students, and spending time at a local coffee shop to build relationships with the owner and community members are all examples of what we have done to establish a missional DNA for our ministry.
Now we have come to the phase where we begin to invite the people we have met in our initial activity to join us in establishing our first missional community. We are beginning to ask God what it would look like for these friends to gather together as a community of people seeking to follow Jesus together and putting into practice some of the activities that will identify us as a faith community and, eventually, a church.
Pray that God would give us wisdom, favor, and creativity as we seek to bring people together into a faith community for the purpose of drawing them closer to Christ.

Financial Support Information.
As we enter this new phase of building a missional community, we’ve been evaluating where our budget needs to be in order to give our ministry the attention it needs. Christian Associates has set a half-time budget for us to have our ministry funded. With the current monthly faith promises we have, we need to raise an additional $700 per month to reach this budget. Pray that God will give us favor in raising this remaining amount.
It is my desire to grow our budget the same way we seek to build a missional community: relationally, organically, and without pressure. If you would like to sit down and talk with me more about partnering with us in this ministry, in person or through Skype, send me a quick email at llongard@gmail.com. January 27, Pastor Greg and Amy at Franklin Park Church announced to the congregation how new responsibilities with Village Soul will limit Leon’s availability for other volunteer involvement in their church. They then prayed for God’s blessing on the new developments with Village Soul. Even as we’ve made some organizational changes with Village Soul, we value the role Franklin Park Church has in our lives as our home church. Pray that God will raise up new people to step into some of these roles.
